Angelo Negro Arneis Riserva 7 Years Roero DOC - 2017
The Angelo Negro winery, a historic estate in Monteu Roero founded in 1670, is among the most authoritative producers in the Roero region and a guardian of Arneis, a native Piedmontese grape variety long forgotten and now restored to new glory. The Arneis Riserva "7 Anni" is the most ambitious and long-lived expression of this variety: the grapes, selected from the oldest vineyards on the sandy and calcareous soils of Roero, are vinified and aged for seven years before being released, moving between oak barrels, steel tanks, and bottles. The result is a white wine of extraordinary evolutionary complexity: on the nose, it opens with notes of dried fruit, toasted almond, withered flowers, acacia honey, sweet spices, and a profound minerality; on the palate, it is full-bodied and creamy, with surprising freshness and a very long finish. A meditation white, capable of challenging the great aged white wines of Europe.
