1980 Harvest

The beginning of spring was cool and with little rain, with budbreak occurring in distinctly dry weather. However, from May onwards, weather conditions changed completely, with rain becoming the protagonist until the first ten days of July. More than 200 mm of rain fell between May and June. The vines were strongly affected by this climate, resulting in a loss of cluster load. The cool temperatures and rain during flowering effectively caused the loss of some "flower buds" and induced limited fruit set, with millerandage in the clusters. From the second week of July, the real summer appeared with temperatures around 30° C, and rain was not seen again until September. Final weather conditions favored and marked the excellent quality of the grapes for this Vintage. The harvest began in the first week of September with the "Pinot" grapes perfectly healthy and ripe. For this Riserva, the grapes were harvested on September 11th and 12th.
