Tasca d'Almerita Rosso del Conte 2011
Rosso del Conte is the signature wine of Tasca d'Almerita and one of the great red wines of Southern Italy. Created in 1970 from the vision of Count Lucio Tasca d'Almerita, it is produced from Nero d'Avola and Perricone grapes grown on the Regaleali estate, in the heart of Sicily, at an altitude of over 400 meters among the hills of Vallelunga Pratameno. A unique terroir, with clay and limestone soils and a continental climate that gives the wines extraordinary freshness and longevity. The 2011 vintage, warm and generous in Sicily, gave life to a Rosso del Conte of great concentration and depth: notes of blackberry, ripe plum, carob, sweet spices, tobacco, and a balsamic touch emerge on the nose; on the palate, it is full and enveloping, with mature tannins and a long, elegant finish. A wine of character and history, capable of evolving beautifully in the bottle for many years.
